Byron & Stacie Stephenson
The Shed Market

2024 Small Business Person of the Year

The Shed’s journey began in Wingate, Texas, in 1989 when Hollis and Betty Dean expanded their catering business into a beloved restaurant. Their grandson, Byron, grew up immersed in
the business, learning every role from dishwasher to pit master. In 1997, Byron’s then-girlfriend, now wife, Stacie joined the team as a waitress and hostess, quickly embracing the family’s passion for quality and community.

After The Shed closed in 2005, Byron and Stacie took over the catering side, balancing it with their full-time careers—Byron in construction and Stacie as a nurse. As demand for their
catering grew, they made the life-changing decision to fully commit, opening The Shed Market in Abilene, Texas, in 2018.

Today, The Shed Market stands as a testament to Hollis and Betty’s legacy and Byron and Stacie’s dedication to authentic flavors and heartfelt service. Through every meal, they honor
their family tradition, serving the community with pride and a commitment to quality that keeps customers coming back for more.
